The recent history of our city on a plate <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Our city, Kavala has been characterized as the Mecca of tobacco. Tobacco was the other product that gave life to the city, but also misery \r\nin the place. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Life because wealth was created, there were jobs for everyone, money, Boeotia level, trade. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Misery simply because this specific wealth developed rivalries within the families, jealousies, wars with neighboring countries, sadness, and finally \r\ndestruction. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

The people of Kavala ate what they call “bitter bread”, because of the nicotine they had from the tobacco in their hands, but in order not to do \r\nanything wrong, they fed their family and were able to progress. So, honoring to the tobacconist, honoring to the eminent product of Kavala, \r\nis this specific dish. The poor but nutritious prey at their break used to eat the specific appetizer. An onion stuffed on the knee, some olives, \r\nsome bread or a nut and if there was any tomato. We developed this dish mainly for local restaurant reasons. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

    • Coarsely chopped onions glazed<\/span><\/li>
    • Olives<\/span><\/li>
    • Tomatoes in small candied frames<\/span><\/li>
    • Olive oil<\/span><\/li>
    • Oregano<\/span><\/li>
    • Sugar<\/span><\/li>
    • Salt<\/span><\/li>
    • Pepper<\/span><\/li>
    • Finely chopped tobacco<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n

      • Cut the bouquet sideways andbake it in the oven on both sides.<\/span><\/div><\/li>
      • In a large pan, put 2\/3 of the olive oil and the onionson low heat covered to remove their liquids and stir at regular intervals. <\/span><\/div><\/li>
      • When they get colored, addthe cherry tomatoes cut in half or if they are large at 4 and mix. Add sugarand salt and finally add the olives cut into fillets.<\/span><\/div><\/li>
      • Take the baked baguetteslices, spread oil and sprinkle with oregano.<\/span><\/div><\/li>
      • Put the mixture in the centerof a plate and around the baguettes.<\/span><\/div><\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n
