The beans of Chrysoupolis have been cultivated for more than 100 years in the Delta of Nestos River. They can be found in two basic varieties, the Chrysoupolis Bean called Tsali (Coarse) and the Chrysoupolis Bean – Medium (Northern type).

Under Pangeon, known as the “golden” mountain with the famous mines during antiquity, large tracts of fertile land and fine vineyards spread out, which give the reputed Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Pangeon wines. Pangeo soils are stony, barren and well-drained, and the conditions are so favorable that justify the characterization of the region of Kavala as a great “wine-land”. Cosmopolitan grapes and Greek varieties thrive here, giving some of the most remarkable wines of Greece, based on Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Sémillon, Ugni Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Roditi, Assyrtiko, Limnio. The area holds generally an important position in the production of excellent quality wine. Many distilleries produce tsipouro and ouzo of excellent quality, on the basis of secret traditional recipes.
Cheeses
Feta cheese, goat and yellow cheeses are produced in Kavala’s area, local cheese makers use daily milk from livestock units in the area and sheep and goats that are free to graze in the mountainous areas of the municipality of Kavala. In addition to white cheeses, argian is also produced, classic or with fruit flavors.
